The Puriri Team's Last Term - Can you believe it is our last term as Year 5. We have had an amazing year of learning but it isn't over yet. We are still working very hard on our next learning steps and working our way through our learning progressions.
Chapter Chat - This term we are reading the book Wonder, by R.J Palagio for Chapter Chat. It is an amazing book that deals with lots of issues kids face like bullying and accepting differences in others with the ultimate message being that kindness conquers all. We are planning on going to see the movie on November the 30th as a follow up to the book. The video for the trailer is below if you want to have a look. Please let Sven or Jack know if you have any objections.
Reading Zone - Reading Zone has had a huge impact for our team. Our reading ability and motivation has gone through the roof! This is just a friendly reminder that we need to bring our Reading Zone book home each day and then return it to school the following day. This means we are reading the same book for up to an hour a day. Some of us have churned through more books than you've had hot dinners!
Business Day - Our big inquiry focus for the term is Business Day. Over the next 6 weeks we are going to be doing a lot of work around Business Day and creating successful businesses. This will involve writing, art and lots of relevant maths in the lead up to the big event which will be on Wednesday 6th December.
*We are quite keen to get some guest speakers in to talk to us about setting up a successful business so you or someone you know would be willing to come and chat to the team please email Sven or Jack and let us know.
Athletics - What an awesome day! The weather was great and the level of enthusiasm was high. Well done to all our students and good luck to those who are going on to compete at the inner city competition which will be held on the 22nd November.
Library - Our library day will continue to be Tuesday from 11.20 - 12.00. If any parents are happy to help out with returns and issues could you please let Jack or Sven know and we could start a timetable.
